This cartridge heater is the most popular of the cartridge designs. The swaged in fiberglass leads exit straight out at the end. The leads can withstand temperatures up to 450° C. The 600 volts rated insulation, and the mica and lava end seal provide excellent design and flexibility. The end seal is compressed onto the lead insulation to hold it securely in place, and keep the insulation from flowering apart, or pulling out. (Which can be characteristic of ceramic end seals – that don’t compress onto the insulation, and only rely on the counter bore for holding the insulation in place.)
