This Thermocouple is typically used on extruders and injection molding machines to measure the melt temperature of plastic while it moves down an extruder barrel. This Melt Bolt MgO variation is constructed with stainless steel. The metal-sheathed MgO element is brazed to the bolt, and it is supplied with a standard grounded junction. The tip of this thermocouple is also stainless steel, and is constructed to shut off positively, to prevent possible back flow of plastic into the bolt. The closed end sensitive portion of the tip, is immersed directly into the plastic.
